Alfa Romeo Brera and Spider 1750 TBi and 2.0 JTDM (2010): first official pictures
Mon, 17 May 2010By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 17 May 2010 07:00 Alfa Romeo has fitted its new 200bhp 1750 TBi engine to the 2010 Brera coupé and Spider convertible ranges – alongside the 170bhp 2.0 JTDM diesel. We'd already seen both engines in the 159 compact executive model in 2009, but the new pair should broaden the appeal of Alfa's distinctive sports duo.Alfa's 1750 TBi: the tech lowdownThe TBi engine is a very zeitgeisty 1742cc four-cylinder, equipped with twin overhead cams running 16 valves, direct injection and turbocharging. This full book of tech is enough to liberate 200bhp and 236lb ft from just 1400rpm – not bad specific outputs for a 1.7.The new TBI engine will appeal to business drivers in particular, who will benefit from CO2 emissions of 189g/km in the Brera and 192g/km in the Spider.
Italian Grand Prix (2013) RESULT
Sun, 08 Sep 2013Italian Grand Prix (2013) RESULT Qualifying for the 2013 Italian Grand Prix at Monza left Red Bull at the front and the home boys, Ferrari, in fourth and fifth, with a miserable Hamilton in the Mercedes down in twelfth. Which augered well for a strong finish for Red Bull and a battle for Alonso to get on the podium and Hamilton to even finish in the points. And that’s exactly what the race gave us.
Is the DfT trying to nobble 80mph speed limit trials?
Wed, 31 Oct 2012With trials proposed for an 80mph speed limit, the ABD are asking if the DfT are trying to fix the trials by running them on congested motorways. When the ConDems came to power, and Philip Hammond was made Transport Secretary, we did hope that might be a sign that government policy on cars would finally make sense, especially when Philip Hammond declared ‘The war on motorists is over‘. Philip’s aim was to look at stuff like national speed limits and create a system that made sense, rather than the silly situation we have where everyone knows you won’t get nicked for 85mph on a motorway unless plod got out of bed the wrong side.
