Michelin Challenge Design 2009 preview

Michelin has released details of three more contenders which will be displayed at the Michelin Challenge Design exhibit at the 2009 NAIAS next week. The stand will feature 11 scale models and 24 two-dimensional drawings that were selected by a jury of top automotive designers. Among these are Raquel Aparicio’s Soft Vehicle, Fernando Gomez’s Packard concept and Niels Grubak Iversen and David Goncalves’ Phoenix concept.

Nissan Leaf owner arrested for stealing electricity

File this under a problem we’ll see more of in the future: An Atlanta Nissan Leaf owner was arrested for stealing five, count ‘em, five cents-worth of electricity from his child’s middle school last month, according to NBC 11 Alive. Kaveh Kamooneh was at Chamblee Middle School where his son was playing tennis. Kamooneh saw the open outlet and figured he’d grab a few electrons while he watched the game.

Big Willie Robinson was as much legend and myth as flesh and bone, and at six feet, six inches and weighing 300 pounds, with 21-inch biceps and a 58-inch chest, there was a lot of flesh and bone. He was the man who used the power of horsepower to unite people of all colors and creeds under the banner of drag racing, once saying at a race, “Ain't no colors here, it's all just engines.” As the founder and president of the National and International Brotherhood of Street Racers, he used racing to bring the races together.
