Mon, 06 Oct 2008By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 06 October 2008 12:22 Britain's new car market is in deep trouble, official sales figures today confirm. September is historically one of the two biggest registration months of the year, as buyers rush to snap up the autumn's new number plate – yet sales were down by a fifth last month. Ford has announced that total sales of the Ford Fiesta in the 37 years since it was revealed have now hit 4,115,000, with the Fiesta being the top-selling car in the supermini segment for 27 of those years and, as car buyers started downsizing (and the Fiesta got bigger), it has become the best selling car in the UK bar none since 2009.
Corvette ZR1 price bombshell
Thu, 25 Sep 2008By Greg Fountain Motor Industry 25 September 2008 14:37 General Motors has pitched the Corvette into the price stratosphere by announcing that the 206mph ZR1 will retail at an eye-watering £109,000 in the UK. It may be the fastest car ever built by GM, but the new 'Vette now enters big-time supercar territory, where it will need to have the quality to match its ballistic performance. The outrageous price tag is the biggest shock since we found out how genuinely brilliant the ZR1 is to drive.
