Beijing Auto Show 2014 – the 15 cars that really matter
Wed, 23 Apr 2014With somewhere around 90 world debuts, the Beijing motor show certainly had the numbers – if not the organization – to live up to its billing as one of the world's most important auto shows. The back-story to these figures however is that the majority of these unveils were of lightly-revised versions of existing models – from facelifts to localized versions of cars already on sale in other markets. Aston Martin One-77 (2009) wins top design prize at Villa d’Este
Mon, 27 Apr 2009By Tim Pollard (photography by Mike Goodbun) First Official Pictures 27 April 2009 10:39 It’s having a long drawn-out gestation, but Aston Martin’s One-77 supercar made its world show debut at this weekend’s Villa d’Este, where it scooped the top prize for concept cars and prototypes. The One-77 won more than 30% of the votes among the eight cars entered in its category.
Royal Wedding Aston Martin: Wills grabs Charles’ Aston Martin DB6 Volante
Sat, 30 Apr 2011Wills & Kate take Charles DB6 Volante for a spin down the Mall As gifts on a wedding day go – even a Royal Wedding Day – using your dad’s prized Aston Martin DB6 Volante to whisk your new bride away is quite special. With the agreement of the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry managed to fit out Prince Charles’ DB6 Volante with ribbons and bows and a JU5T WED number plate so the newly apponted Duke of Cambridge could whisk the Duchess of Cambridge away after the reception at Buckingham Palace. Although ‘whisk away’ is perhaps a bit too rash a statement, when they only managed to go a few hundred yards down the Mall to Clarence House for a break before the evening’s festivities.
