Isuzuperformance Stainless Steel Brake Hose Set for Lotus Elan M100.

Six hose set, replaces the original rubber hoses on the front between the steel brake pipe and the caliper at the front axle and on the back between the steel brake pipe and the rear wishbone and between the rear wishbone and the caliper at the rear axle.

Eliminates spongy pedal feel caused by old rubber brake hoses.  More accurate and precise control of braking.

This is the ONLY stainless steel brake hose set / kit made for Lotus Elan M100 that EXACTLY matches the OEM size, dimension, and fittings, for the BEST fit with NO brake failures.

This is the same brake hose set used on the Isuzuperformance Racing Team cars in SCCA Solo 2 Street Prepared class and JAF Gymkhana Class C racing.

About This Product

    • Assembled in USA, from the finest hose and hardware from around the world, by a DOT certified technician.
    • Built with Brake Quip brand fittings and hose.
    • Teflon hose core, wrapped in stainless sleeve, and then wrapped in clear hose to protect the assembly and keep it looking new a very long time.
    • Hose rated to 3000 PSI.   Each hose is pressure tested to 3000 PSI as the final assembly step.
    • Premium corrosion resistant plating to protect fittings.
    • Exact OEM style hose ends, not universal fit.
    • Meets DOT specs.
    • Has aluminum insert at crimped ends for added strength in order to pass the DOT "Whip Test" and comply with DOT requirements.
    • Includes line locators for hoses that came with OEM line locators.
    • Designed for Street and Race.
    • Includes new copper washers for banjo fittings.

What Sets This Product Apart From The Rest

    • For the chassis end fittings of the hoses, Lotus used a long bulkhead fitting.  HEL, Goodridge, and other manufacturers do not have this fitting, and substitute a generic fitting which is shorter.  Because of this substitution, their rear hoses are TOO SHORT.  Their front hoses are measured incorrectly, based only on overall length, ignoring the length between the bulkhead flange that secures to the chassis tab and the banjo fitting, and as a result, their front hoses are TOO LONG.  The Isuzuperformance hoses use exact duplicates of the OEM bulkhead fittings and fit exactly like the OEM hoses.
    • HEL, Goodridge, and other manufacturers either do not have line locators (retainers which attach the hose to a chassis tab) or their non-OEM style line locators (retainers) are loosely mounted to the hose in the wrong place and slide freely.  Without correct line locators (retainers) the hoses may be cut through by rubbing against the tire or wheel, can snag on suspension or steering assemblies, or might rip away from the brake caliper.  All of these cause catastrophic brake failure and most often result in a car accident.  The Isuzuperformance hoses have exact duplicates of the OEM line locators (retainers) which are firmly attached to the hoses in the correct, identical position as the OEM hoses.
    • HEL, Goodridge, and other manufacturers, make their hoses from build notes found in their engineering notes, based on measurements made long ago, and, based on the poor fit of their products, of questionable accuracy.  Isuzuperformance has obtained a OEM sample (usually new) of each and every hydraulic hose offered for sale.  That OEM sample was used for measurement for our engineering notes, and retains that sample in a hose library.  In addition to this, for each and every hose made, Isuzuperformance takes that OEM sample out of storage and that OEM sample is used in each and every step of the manufacturing process, as the new hose is scrutinized and compared to the original, to make absolutely certain that the new stainless steel hose is an exact duplicate of the OEM hose.
    • HEL, Goodridge, and other manufacturers, are not made in the US, or even in Europe or Japan, but in Southeast Asia.  The Isuzuperformance hoses are made in the USA.
    • HEL, Goodridge, and other manufacturers use universal style banjo and end fittings (round), which do not fit like the OEM hoses.  The Isuzuperformance hoses use exact OEM duplicate banjo fittings (square) and end fittings (long bulkhead) which fit exactly as the OEM hoses.
    • UK, Italian, Japanese, Indian, and Chinese made hose sets do not meet DOT standards.  The Isuzuperformance hoses are DOT certified.
    • Hoses without the aluminum insert at the crimped ends are not as strong and will not pass the DOT "Whip Test".  The Isuzuperformance hoses have the aluminum insert to protect the hose and they do pass the DOT whip test.
    • SJ Sports Cars, Paul Matty Sportscars, PNM Engineering, and the rest of the self proclaimed "Independent Lotus Specialists" are all reselling the same poor quality and poorly fitting HEL and Goodridge made hose sets.  This can be verified by comparing their product photos (the few who bother to actually provide photos) to the product photos used in the HEL and Goodridge hose listings on this very website.  These "Independent Lotus Specialists" have nothing to do with the design of the brake hoses they are selling, much like most of the rest of the items they offer for the Elan M100.  By contrast, Isuzuperformance is solely responsible for the development and manufacturing of the Isuzuperformance brake hoses.  Isuzuperformance applies the same obsession to detail to the fit, quality, and performance of this and all products manufactured, as has been devoted to this written description of the brake hose set being offered for purchase.  After all, how often has anyone seen a four page, single spaced, 12 point font, 1,400+ word, description of brake hoses?

Lotus Elan owners have voiced loud and serious complaints about the quality and fit of HEL and Goodridge brand brake hoses.  These are the exact concerns we addressed when we set the specifications of this Isuzuperformance product, and ALL Isuzuperformance products.  As with all of our products, our Lotus Elan brake lines are the measure by which all others are compared.

Please Look For the Following Things When Comparing This Listing To Others

    • Does the listing show a photo of the actual item, or does the listing have a generic photo that does not show the item you are purchasing?
    • Do the brake hoses have OEM style square banjo fittings like the original hoses on your Elan, or generic round fittings that will not fit like the originals?
    • Do the brake hoses have OEM style metal line locators on the front hoses, or flimsy plastic bits that you are supposed to use zip ties to hold to your car, or, most likely, no line locators at all?
    • Do the brake hoses have long bulkhead chassis end fittings, or short generic fittings which will not fit like the originals?
    • Did the person making the hoses have a set of OEM hoses on hand to use as a pattern, or were they working from a set of notes, and they have never seen what the original hoses are supposed to look like?
    • Do the brake hoses come in a two hose set, a four hose set, or a six hose set?

What is the Isuzuperformance Racing Team?

The Isuzuperformance Racing Team is a hand picked group of professional and semi-professional drivers in Japan and the United States, who compete in Isuzu made cars in road racing, gymkhana, autocross, rally, and drag racing.  Members have distinguished themselves as top tier drivers in sanctioned competition under the Japanese Auto Federation, Sport Car Club of America, Japanese Classic Car Association, and National Auto Sport Association, as well as participation in the events of other organizations such as Redline Time Attack and Katoka Racing Service Battle Royal.

In exchange for review and feedback, Isuzuperformance provides services of design, engineering, and manufacturing of professional racing parts to Team members.  These parts are designed without concern for cost, instead concentrating on three things:

    1. Superior and flawless performance.
    2. Durability approaching indestructibility.
    3. Compliance with the governing racing rules.

These parts are not normally available to the public and are far beyond the budget of the casual car enthusiast or amateur racer.  However, every once in a while, we have extras, and offer those at auction.
