Toyota Auris Hybrid, Prius Plug-in Hybrid, Land Cruiser and iQ (2009): first official pictures

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 02 September 2009 13:25 Toyota has announced its line-up for the 2009 Frankfurt motor show – and it’ll be led by a new hybrid version of the Auris hatchback. The Hybrid Synergy Drive tech from the Prius has squeezed under the bonnet of the Auris to make a new, cleaner hatch and extend the Japanese firm’s lead in petrol-electric tech. It won’t be just a battery-powered Auris on show, however.

Trevor’s Back! TVR sold to new British owner

TVR sold to a new British owner, Les Edgar TVR – once the pride of Blackpool – effectively disappeared from the car scene in 2006 when its Russian owner, Nikolai Smolensky, shuttered up TVR just two years after he bought it from Peter Wheeler and last yeare announced there would never be another TVR. But it now seems TVR has been sold to a British businessman, Les Edgar, who has bought the rights to the TVR name and the right to manufacture parts for existing cars. So far, the only evidence of a return is a new splash page on the TVR website (pictured above) which tells us that TVR are ‘Roaring Back’.

The Saab 9-3 ePower - will spawn a 70 car test fleet fo electric Saabs It’s great to see Saab back doing what a car maker should be doing, instead of fighting for survival under the cosh of the big, bad Yanks. Sadly, Saab are doing what much of the car world is also doing; paying lip service to the concept of big electric cars. Oh, well.
