Mazda 3 hatchback (2013) at Frankfurt motor show
Thu, 27 Jun 2013The Mazda 3 is back: lighter, more eco-friendly and supposedly better to drive than ever, promises Mazda. Brought up-to-date with Mazda’s new ‘Kodo’ design style from the 6 saloon and CX-5 crossover, the new Mazda 3 is a handsome hatchback, and boasts a far superior cabin to its predecessor. Is that enough to shoehorn buyers out of the VW Golf and Ford Focus? Get the full CAR story here.
Volvo V40 Cross Country & V40 R-Design: Paris 2012
Fri, 28 Sep 2012Volvo has revealed the V40 Cross Country and V40 R-Design at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, and both are convincing. The sporty take on the new V40 is the V40 R-design, a cosmetic update for the already good-looking V40 that manages to bolt on go-faster bits without wrecking the good lines of the normal V40. We would like to have seen the Volvo V40 R-Design get the sports suspension as standard, but Volvo obviously feel that most R-Design buyers want the looks rather than the more dynamic ride the sports suspension offers, so it stays as an option. And as the R-Design option is available across the new V40 range – from the D2 to the T4 – it’s probably the right decision.
Video: Targa Newfoundland claims a Ferrari Enzo
Fri, 16 Sep 2011While competing in the 2011 Targa Newfoundland Rally, driver Zahir Rana crashed his highly customized Ferrari Enzo into the Atlantic Ocean. Both Rana and his navigator, Roland Linder, were unharmed in the incident, and the vehicle appears to be in good cosmetic shape despite its submerged state. With an infinitely better attitude than most, Rana and Linder expressed their perspective on competitive risks and their outlooks on returning to racing.
