Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept

The third eco-friendly concept Chrysler will be unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show in January will be this ecoVoyager show car, a four-door, four-passenger vehicle. Like the Ford Airstream concept unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show last year, this concept explores the potential of maximizing interior space through employing an electric powertrain mated to an environmentally-friendly hydrogen fuel-cell. 2013 Mercedes SLS Electric Drive: Paris 2012

The electric SLS – the Mercedes SLS Electric Drive – has been shown at Paris 2012 ahead of a 2013 launch. Mercedes are billing the electric SLS as the most powerful production electric car in the world, and with an output of 740 horses from its four electric motors – one at each corner – that’s no surprise. That output – and a torque figure of 738lb/ft – makes the electric SLS a whole heap more powerful than its ICE counterpart and allows it to get to 62mph in 3.9 seconds.

Dakar Rally 2012 Day 2 update

The first major motorsports event of the year, the 2012 Dakar Rally, began its two-week trek across South America on Jan. 1. Four hundred and sixty-five vehicles (171 cars, 185 motorcycles, 33 quads and 76 trucks) with drivers representing 50 nationalities will attempt to cover 9,000 kilometers (more than 5,500 miles) over 14 days throughout Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
