Steen’s Taco style reproduction Trail Tamer mini bike forks with handlebars complete.

The Trail Tamer forks were a custom option on the original Steen’s Tacos and other mini bikes.

If you are a heavier rider or you just want a great look for your custom bike; these fork are just the item you need.

We have seen these forks used on Bonanzas, Bird, Rupp etc.

We re-manufactured these forks using computer aided design software to be exactly like the originals.

These forks are ready to bolt on and will ship complete with all parts and mounting hardware shown.

The steel tubing is .101 wall which is much thicker than the original .065 wall tubing.

We have added a pair of 3/8” holes so that handlebar clamps with single mounting holes could be used.

The double handlebar mounting holes are 1 ¼” apart and are .028 diameter; this is over sized for ¼”- 20 bolts.  Both sets of handlebar clamp mounting holes are spaced 2 5/8” apart.

The inside distance between the upper and lower fork plates is 4 ¾” ; if your frame neck is less than this; simply add a spacer or some washers as needed.

The hole for the neck bolt is ½”, the axle bushings are 5/8” ID

These forks originally had Italian Sebac shocks installed when shipped from the manufacturer in the 60s-70s. They are designed to be used with shocks that are 12” eye to eye; but slightly longer or shorter shocks could also be used.

Shocks: Original restored Sebac; blasted, triple chrome plated and epoxy paint.

Includes rubber fork eye bushings and mounting bolts.

BE ADVISED - some of the springs had pitting on the top sections of some of the spring wrap/ revolutions; even after the blasting and triple stage chrome; some of these pits can still be seen if you look hard for them.

Includes 5/8” axle and ½” neck bolts and locks nuts (you’ll need to make some spacers to center your wheel)

Looks like the maximum wheel size that would work with these forks is 8”

The original Steens Taco paint was a dark purple with a hint of silver metallic; these forks were blasted and given a special two stage power coat to match the original dark “Taco Metallic Purple” color. Stage one was a bright metallic silver and stage two was a dark purple. The result is a DEEP dark purple color. This two stage powder coating recipe was formulated by a gentleman who assembled Taco mini bikes in the 70s. We have compared the final shade to the original Taco paint color and the two stage powder coat is just a tiny bit darker; but we feel that it is accurate considering that there has likely been some fading to the original paint over the past 30+ years.

Vintage 7/8” Handlebars: these bars are in very good original condition;  the chrome looks great; will look even better with some metal polish, they are straight with no dents, rust or holes. BE ADVISED; these bars have some minor scratches. They measure 25” wide with a 6.25” rise; the grip sections are pulled back and have some factory knurling on the grip sections so that the grips will not slip.

Vintage 7/8” handlebar clamps; these clamps are in very good original condition. They are machined cast aluminum with a cast in single mounting bolt. They have been media blasted and polished; they have a grayish / silver finish and include all of the original mounting bolts and nuts. You may want to add a thick flat washer that fits around the base of the mounting studs so that the clamps seat better on top of the upper fork plate.

IMPORTANT NOTE- TACO 100 MINIBIKE NOT INCLUDED! SHEESH!

2014 Hyundai Genesis first glimpse

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Here are the first official shots of the next Hyundai Genesis, a long, cool drink of water that will chart the course for many larger Hyundai sedans to come. “We want more premium luxury,” said Moon Sik Kwon, president of Hyundai R&D. “Genesis will lead the way.” Details are not officially released yet, so, even though we just drove the thing all over Hyundai's Nam Yang proving ground here in Korea and have a definite opinion about it, we can't tell you whether or not it was a well-composed, powerfully quick, huge step up and over the first Genesis sedan.
