The first major breakthrough in wear bar technology since the 1950s. Unique corner-carving hourglass design yields better control at speed with no increased steering effort. Better tracking on trailshourglass wear bar shape catches snow from ski sides to make steering more positive. Average of 1 - 2 tighter turning radius in soft snow conditions. 20% lighter than conventional 1/2 diameter round wear bars. Zinc-plated for corrosion resistance. Lifetime wear rate is nearly equal to current round and square wear bar types. Manufactured by Stud Boy. Designed and tested by USI. Sold in pairs. Sold in pairs. The Volvo V40 (pictured) gets Volvo’s new Drive-e engines
Last year Volvo revealed its new, efficient and flexible Drive-e engines and plans to offer them in the S60, V60 and XC60 with a 179bhp D4 and a 302bhp T6. Now, the new Volvo V40 is getting Drive-e powertrains. Both the V40 and the V40 Cross Country are getting Drive-e engine options, with both the D4 diersel and T5 petrol coming on-stream from May 2014.

BMW has dropped details on its next X5 SUV, but somehow a new model just feels more real once it's been spotted out and about during final shakedown testing. That's what happened here as eagle-eyed reader Todd H. caught up with a test-fleet 2014 BMW X5 35d diesel making the high-altitude test rounds in Colorado.

Though the cloud of uncertainty is currently looming over General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall brands, the economic climate hasn't deterred its Vauxhall division from showing a bit of generosity. Recognizing the burgeoning talent at one of the UK's leading design schools, the British arm of the American automotive giant recently offered car design students from Coventry's School of Art & Design an Insignia prototype, which will be used for 'real life' styling exercises. "We are delighted that Vauxhall has chosen to donate this vehicle to the university for our students to work with.
