I purchased this back in the 90's to be used on my late model Alpine/Tiger, 1967 to be precise. I knew, at the time, that this grille was from an earlier model, perhaps a Series I, II and/or III. I'm not precisely sure. I considered making it fit on my 67 but it was ever so slightly different. I would have needed to modify the grille and it is in such good condition, I really didn't want to risk damaging it - so I decided to make it available to someone who's restoring an earlier model - perhaps you?

You simply cannot find these anymore! They're impossible to locate, and if you do, they're trashed. Look closely at this one - it's truly clean and straight.

As you can see from the photos, it's super clean. The steel brackets that hold it together do have some surface rust on them, but it cleans up easily. The stainless surface is amazingly clean for a part that was built in the early sixties and used for multiple decades on a running Sunbeam Alpine or Tiger. This grille will work on both!

Please note that one of the small round clips is missing. But anyone who is serious about buying and using this in their restoration will most likely want to dismantle the entire grille, clean up both the stainless and steel brackets, and reassemble with stainless clips which can be easily found these days.

Please review the photos and ask questions before bidding. I'm in the process of reducing my very large cache of Sunbeam parts, and when you bid and win, it's yours - I'm afraid I cannot accept returns. I'm sure you can understand.

I'm offering this with free domestic (US only) shipping, so you don't have to worry about those costs, which will be significant. Also know, that I will professionally pack this to arrive in it's current excellent condition!

Thanks for checking this out and best of luck!

Volkswagen GTI Roadster for Gran Turismo uncovered – gets 496 bhp

Thu, 29 May 2014

The Volkswagen GTI Roadster (pictured) is uncovered We revealed last week that VW were making their GTI Roadster from the Gran Turismo game in to a real car for the Worthersee show, and they have. Blurring the lines between the real and the virtual (which is the way all our lives are going) Volkswagen has taken the opportunity to build a real life GTI Roadster – without the constraints of a concept heading for production – and has come up with a tw-seater open roadster that has some design cues from the Golf but is shorter and a lot lower. Those deign cues extend to a a front end that looks like a squashed GTI with its headlights and grill on show with big air intakes, all of which conspires to make the GTI Roadster look even lower, emaner and wider than it is.
