Kia K9 sedan, camouflaged Sportage spied testing
Tue, 16 Apr 2013Kia was doing a bit of vehicle testing around Mammoth Lake, Calif., last weekend, and Autoweek reader Kristoffer Gjevre was there to capture the convoy. His photos show a camouflaged small SUV/ crossover and a completely undisguised K9 sedan backed up by Hyundai Santa Fe and Veloster support vehicles. Based on the roofline and A, B and C pillars, that small crossover appears to be a Kia Sportage -- and the heavy concealment at the front and rear of the vehicle suggest updated fascias may be in the works.
The most exclusive Mercedes-Benz G-class is this stretched BINZ
Fri, 20 Sep 2013If you thought the G63 AMG was the meanest and most exclusive version of the Mercedes-Benz G-class that you could buy today, you haven't seen the version that Mercedes-Benz coachbuilder BINZ GmbH has been making for more than two decades. That's right, the smug owners of those G63 AMGs you see parked in front of trendy restaurants downtown do not, in fact, possess the coolest version of the long-running G-class. BINZ is known in other markets as the maker of Mercedes-Benz limousines and ambulances, but their wares are almost entirely unknown in the western hemisphere.

It offers a decent amount of proper BMW goodness and probably has enough range – even without the optional range-extender engine – to cover most urban drivers’ daily needs. But it seems there is one area the i3 doesn’t come up trumps and that’s for safety – in particular pedestrian safety – scoring a disappointing four stars in the latest round of Euro NCAP testing.
