Thu, 21 Aug 2014Saab 9-3 EV prototype revealed by NEVS When National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) bought what was left after the debacle of bankruptcy, the plan was to create a range of electric cars using the Saab brand. But that hasn’t gone to plan, even though the first electric Saab 9-3 Prototype has now been revealed. In fact, Saab under NEVS has also come close to bankruptcy recently as an unpaid supplier took court action (although NEVS say that little local difficulty has been solved) and NEVS had to resort to building ICE engined Saabs to keep a few bob coming in.

Luckily, on Tuesday morning, we were greeted by two new models—the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and the Jeep Wrangler Moab. The Trailhawk, which was introduced during the 2012 Easter Jeep Safari, will be offered with either a V8 or V6 engine and 18-inch all-terrain tires with Kevlar reinforcement.

It’s a brilliant demonstration of how car makers have worked their way round the daft CO2 tax regimes designed to strangle the marketplace for powerful, luxury cars by using technology to attain far lower official emissions figures than ever.
