This is the new 'downsized' Bentley Continental - the new 2012 V8. Downsizing is relative, of course, but it's a significant move from Bentley as it expands the Conti range down from the lofty heights of today's 6.0 W12. The new Continental V8 coupe and GTC V8 convertible premiere the VW group's new 4.0-litre V8, codeveloped with Audi.

Jaguar XKR-S GT revealed (+ video)

Jaguar has pulled a surprise with the reveal of a more focused, and expensive, XKR ahead of the New York Auto Show – the Jaguar XKR-S GT. The XKR-S GT doesn’t get extra power – the XKR-S already has 542bhp – but it does get lots of tweaks to make it more able to use the performance it has. That means a new bonnet with more vents to improve cooling, a new carbon fibre front splitter, new rear diffuser, an aluminium undertray at the front, a whopping great spoiler at the back and bits of carbon fibre floating around.

Volkswagen e-Golf: MK 7 Golf EV leaks ahead of Geneva debut

An electric version of the MK 7 Volkswagen Golf – the VW e-Golf – has leaked out ahead of a debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Even though car industry bosses are sure that battery electric cars have no realistic chance of becoming a mainstream option – and the best-selling EV, the Nissan LEAF, has only sold 50k since 2010 – VW are rolling out an electric Golf at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The VW e-Golf – with pretty much the same underpinnings as the new Mk 7 Golf with an ICE engine – comes with an electric motor driving the front wheels and offering 115bhp and 199lb/ft of torque, enough to get the e-Golf to 62mph in 11.8 seconds and on to a top speed of just 84mph.
