Top Gear answers critics of Electric Car Test. Again.
Wed, 03 Aug 2011Nissan LEAF runs out of electrickery in Lincoln on the Top Gear Test Top Gear and Electric Cars do have a habit of not getting on. And they didn’t get on in the latest Top Gear test when Jeremy (in a Nissan LEAF) and James (in a Peugeot iOn) set out to demonstrate the shortcomings of EVs, the same shortcomings we we bang on about constantly. The piece by Andy Wilman on Top Gear’s site is in response to an article in the Times, where Nissan complain that ‘…‘Clarkson didn’t give our electric cars a sporting chance.’ But he did, with the Top Gear piece designed to do nothing more than debunk the claims companies like Nissan make for their electric cars.
Formula One class of 2014: the official pictures
Fri, 31 Jan 2014By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 31 January 2014 11:30 The 2014 Formula One season is only weeks away. With 2.4-litre V8 engines in the bin and turbocharged 1.6-litre V6s with twice the electrical boost power powering the racers, a controverdial triple-points rule in Abu Dhabi, and wild-looking new nosecones thanks to the latest FIA crash regulations, the class of 2014’s machines are the most radically different F1 cars in decades. If the old adage of a pretty car being a winning car rings true this season, we suspect Sauber, Red Bull and Marussia will squabble for the title, with Caterham surprised to see themselves battling Lotus and Toro Rosso at the back of the field.
BMW i3 ‘virtual test drive’ app (2013) CAR review
Fri, 13 Sep 2013Though we’ve seen new the BMW i3 in full production trim, and had a ride in the carbonfibre electric city car, there’s still a short wait before anyone can get behind the wheel of a showroom-spec example in the UK – or is there? BMW has launched a smartphone and tablet app – ‘BMW i3: Become Electric’, which it claims allows users to virtually test drive the new i3 without so much as setting foot outside their front door, yet alone finding the time to head to a BMW dealership. It’s available now on the Apple App Store, and from 26 September 2013 on Google Play.
