VW extends used-car warranties to all brands
Mon, 06 Aug 2012The Volkswagen brand, as part of its push for 800,000 U.S. sales by 2018, has a new used-car warranty program to help dealers sell trade-ins from other brands. This October, VW rolls out "WorldAuto," which extends a limited one-year, 12,000-mile warranty to used non-VW makes and models.
Record expected for Auto Union sale
Wed, 07 Feb 2007By James Mullan Motor Industry 07 February 2007 09:21 A rare 1939 Auto Union Type D grand prix car is tipped to tear up the record books this month when it goes under the hammer – for an estimated price of up to £7.8 million. Auto Union developed the Type D racing car with a mid-mounted 3.0-litre 12-cylinder engine; in 1939, it was modified with the addition of a twin supercharger, increasing power 420bhp to 460bhp – enough for a top speed of 205mph. This particular car won the French and Yugoslavian Grand Prix in 1939, but at the end of the Second World War it was transported from East Germany to the former Soviet Union by Russian occupation forces as spoils of war.
AT&T Labs and Carnegie Mellon develop GPS-enabled haptic steering wheel

For those who need a quick refresher, haptic technology is a feedback system that uses vibrations to provide alerts, for example vibrating mobile 'phones or your games console controller. Here the tech is used to alert drivers when navigation maneuvers are approaching, with the steering wheel syncing with GPS-enabled computer systems.
