Kia's Forte Super Bowl ad features violent android lady
Fri, 01 Feb 2013There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.” While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.
Vauxhall-Opel Junior: a Mini rival for 2013

Based on a shortened Corsa platform, Junior will supplement the utilitarian Agila and conventional Corsa supermini in Vauxhall-Opel’s small car range. Sun, 10 Nov 2013The Jaguar SUV/Crossover (C-X17) gets Liquid Metal paint job for Dubai Motor Show The Jaguar C-X17 Concept arrived at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September as Jaguar’s first nod towards a sports SUV – although Jaguar consider the C-X17 a Sport Crossover, not an SUV – and, although dubbed a concept, it’s a firm marker for a Jaguar Crossover arriving in the next couple of years. That perception is given more credence by the arrival of the C-X17 at the Dubai Motor Show all spruced up with a new paint job - a lustrous Liquid Aluminium liquid metal finish. It’s a similar route to garner column inches Jaguar took with the C-X16 Concept (which turned in to the Jaguar F-Type) with extra coverage garnered after the reveal at Frankfurt in 2011 with a new white paint job - Neutron White – for the Los Angeles Auto Show a couple of months later.
