You are looking at a USED Johnson/Evinrude long shaft conversion kit. It was removed from a 1968 Evinrude 33HP that I converted to a short shaft about 5 years ago. This was a fresh water engine than ran & shifted fine. There is some rust/pitting on the upper section of the driveshaft. I have cleaned the shaft & taken pictures best I can. This kit along with some other non-related items were exposed to road salt spray when I moved a few years back & that is what caused the rusting. There is also some wear from the lower bearing just below the water pump. Like I said above, this shaft was removed from a functioning motor.

I realize that there is no shift shaft connector included. Can't remember if this motor had the 5" long shift shaft connector that I remember some models using or if the shift shaft pictured is 5" longer. I did have all the parts taped together until I today when I took the tape off to clean up & photograph. I used parts from a donor lower unit to make the conversion and the fact there is a shift shaft included (and not a connector) suggests this shaft is longer but I can't be certain. You be the judge, but you are buying As-Is, maybe you need a different connector, maybe not.

I am not sure what all the years or HP sizes it will fit. Nor am I sure if can be used to convert an Electric shift model by simply eliminating the shift rod. Again, you are buying As-Is. If you plan to experiment you do it at your own risk.

The magazine says McLaren is working with engineering firm Ricardo to develop a 5.0-liter engine that cranks out nearly 800 hp.

Smog could get worse as more people buy diesels

Fri, 04 Apr 2014

Britain could see an increase in smog as the popularity of diesel cars increases, warns a leading pollution expert from King’s College London. The smog-like conditions that have descended on the UK over the past week have been caused by dust blown across from the Sahara Desert mixing with harmful pollution in urban areas. This pollution comes from industry, as well as both petrol and diesel cars.
