We've sold over 300 vintage tailgates that customers use in restorations and repurpose into benches, tables, fences or signs. We generally have several different makes and models, so be sure to view our other auctions and check back often…you never know what Pete will find. There is a reason they are so popular…the size makes them the perfect bench back and the old worn paint and random dents and dings give them unique character; the patina of the oxidized metal can only be produced by time and the elements. This tailgate came off an old Chevy fleetside and I think will fit 1958 - 1966, but check your measurements. The finish is unique...a beautiful azure blue with engraved white lettering. (use the zoom tool for an accurate visual description.) The metal is structurally sound with no pitting...great patina! There are a few dents, primarily on the bottom edge. At one time, brackets were welded on each side to replace the hook hangers. We cut them off so it could be shipped. Pete said he'd be glad to grind them all the way off, but then you will have some shiny metal...the patina all blends quite nicely as is. 66 x 21". |

Among the criteria for a replacement for "The Beast" was the following: "This solicitation is restricted to Major Domestic U.S Automobile Manufacturers, who have their primary headquarters located in the United States of America." Well, with that came the suggestion that Chrysler -- now entirely underneath the banner of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles -- reports to somewhere far, far away from its nominal H.Q. in Auburn Hills, Mich.
