Vintage "Devil Dog" style shaker vibration motion sensor switch made by Universal Security Instruments, Owings Mills / Baltimore, Maryland, USA.  This is equivalent to the so-called "Devil Dog" shaker switch.  Model # U-2AS

We think these "Devil Dog" style sensors are no longer manufactured.  The photo of the car appears to be later 1970s, but these shaker switches looked the same in the 50s and 60s.  Universal Security Instruments no longer sells these.

New,  in original unopened package.  Includes instruction sheet sealed inside the package.  See photo of the typical instruction sheet.

These were popular in the in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, maybe into the 80s as a motion sensor in a vehicle theft alarm.  For sensing disturbance of a vehicle such as by jacking, towing, possibly entry (if set to high sensitivity), or other disturbance.

Sensitivity is adjustable with  screw and locking nut located on top.

Case is typically grounded through the mounting screw to metal mounting surface, or a ground wire can be added with ring lug and wire using the mounting screw if the mounting surface is fiberglas or other rigid plastic.   The electrical terminal on top provides a momentary ground signal when sensor is disturbed- typically used with some type of latching relay or latching circuit.

Shipping will be $6.00.

Infiniti EX35

Fri, 24 Aug 2007

The EX35 is a slightly smaller and more mainstream SUV than its FX bigger brother from which it takes its core 'coupe SUV' theme.  Despite the coupe design references, the vehicle is similar proportionally to the Lexus RX300 and BMW X3 which it will compete with in the US - and also in Europe when the Infiniti brand debuts next year.  Little different to the Infiniti EX concept shown in New York, the EX35 uses the core Infiniti graphic design signatures and soft form language but introduces a new flowing side feature line not seen on the Infiniti G37 Coupe launched a few months ago. Interesting technical innovations include the 'Around View Monitor' that uses four cameras to give a 'top-down view' of the outside of the car, and 'Scratch Shield' - a new self-healing clearcoat paint. Mercedes' Wolff says Hamilton Rosberg rivalry won't boil over

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

MERCEDES motorsport boss Toto Wolff is confident the simmering rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will not boil over and has revealed the pair may be allowed to duel for the Formula One title. German Rosberg leads the drivers' standings on 202 points, with Briton Hamilton 11 points behind and their nearest rival Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) a further 60 points adrift. Mercedes have won nine of the 11 grands prix this season and it appears Rosberg and Hamilton, whose relationship has been frosty of late, are in pole position for the title.

Driven: Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback

Wed, 10 Aug 2011

The C-segment is one of the most important sectors of the automotive market, with every mainstream manufacturer having at least one car competing within. From Alfa Romeo's Giulietta through to the Lexus CT200h and Volvo's C30, there really is a car for everyone. So, in a potentially saturated marketplace, what can a Chevrolet hatchback offer above and beyond a nostalgic name and a tenuous link to an American heritage?
