Volvo makes breakthrough in battery tech
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Volvo has developed a new way of ‘storing’ energy for its future electric vehicles. The Swedish firm is exploring the concept of lightweight structural energy storage components made from carbonfibre, containing “nano structured batteries and super capacitors.” This technology is said to offer a lighter, more compact solution to the problem of energy storage, potentially removing the need for the heavy, bulky batteries used in current electric vehicles. Silverstone gets British Grand Prix
Mon, 07 Dec 2009Silverstone has won a 17 year deal to host the British Grand Prix Now the farce that was the Donnington bid has been expunged, we’ve been waiting for confirmation that Bernie Ecclestone will take in to account more than just money and confirm that the British Grand Prix will survive. It seemed certain last week that a deal would happen, and the official announcement has come this morning that Silverstone has secured a 17 year deal to host F1. The key to the deal seems to be the length of the agreement.
Renault Clio facelift for 2009
Thu, 05 Feb 2009The facelifted Renault Clio for 2009 - Due to launch at the Geneva Motor Show in March As with most car makers, Renault is going for the ‘Family’ look, and has grafted a new nose on the Clio to make it look like its big brother, the Megane. So it gets a new front end with new headlights, slitty grill and an air intake at the bottom. Big play is being made of the Clio GT (which Renault says will give more people more Va Va Voom!), and these are the pictures we have here.
