This is a vintage Sun Super Tach complete with chrome cup and mounting bracket. The model number is SST-801. This is a very nice period correct tach for the 50's-60's. The coolest part about this tach is there is no sending unit required. That's right, this is a direct connect tachometer for 8 cylinder, 12 volt applications. All you need is 12 volt power, ground, and one wire to the negative side of the coil.

This tach is in very good original condition as shown. The face is excellent with no damage or fading. The lens is real glass and is clean and clear as shown. The front bezel is nice with shiny original chrome with no pitting. The cup is in very good condition with shiny reflective chrome and no pitting. The bracket is the flat dash mount type. If you need the curved column mount style I would be happy to swap it out free of charge, just send me a request if you want the swap. This is simply a very nice vintage tach.

This unit has been tested and is in excellent working condition. There is a video of the test below. To watch the video, simply click on the play button in the picture below and the video will play right here on the auction screen.

This is your chance to own the tachometer you have been dreaming of for your special car or collection as a great price! Don't Miss Out!

Check out my other listings for more rare and hard to find parts including many more gauges.

I will happily combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever possible.

GOOD LUCK!

BMW i3 tops Sunday Times best Electric Cars list

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

The BMW i3 EV tops Sunday Times best Electric Cars list Just as they did with the new Range Rover last year, the Sunday Times has declared the new BMW i3 EV the pick of the bunch of electric and hybrid cars on sale in the UK, despite the i3 not yet arriving on UK roads. But there seems a good chance that the Sunday Times have got it right this time too, just as they did with the new Range Rover. The Sunday Times praised BMW for biding its time with the launch of their first electric and range-extender car (the next, the BMW i8 supercar, will arrive in 2014) and said the i3′s big appeal lies not in its cutting edge electric motor or battery technology – because there isn’t any – but in its appeal as a car even without its EV powertrain.

Concept Car of the Week: Oldsmobile Aerotech (1987)

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

In late 1984, Oldsmobile management had so much confidence in the potential of its new inline four-cylinder engine Quad 4, that a small team was assigned to the creation of the Aerotech, a research vehicle designed to demonstrate the engine's performance by setting a new world speed record. Ed Welburn, then assistant chief designer, was mostly working on the 1988 Cutlass Supreme but his passion for race cars made him the ideal candidate to be handed the assignment by Oldsmobile 2 studio's chief David North. Inspired by Le Mans racers such as the Porsche 917LH and Jim Hall's Chaparrals, he designed a long, flowing car that immediately seduced design director Chuck Jordan and GM management.

Freeman Thomas: “it's easier to create your own rocket than create your own car”

Thu, 08 May 2014

The Industrial Designers Society of America's ‘Designing Innovation' panel discussion took place in San Francisco yesterday. The event was sponsored by Ford, with strategic design director, Freeman Thomas taking a place on the panel. Having parked a C-MAX Energi and new F-150 in the venue, Ford's influence weighed rather heavily, particularly in the early moments.
