Bentley are planning an 'Allroad' Estate type car and a two-door Shooting Brake hatch These rumours crop up from time to time – new entry-level models from prestige car makers – but perhaps we need to take some of them a bit more seriously now the world seems to be on a down-sizing path. Petrol sales '25% lower than 2008'

Petrol sales have plunged in the first half of this year – but diesel sales have risen sharply. Retail petrol sales for the period January to June dipped 5.8% compared with the same period last year, Government figures highlighted by the AA showed. The numbers amount to a fall of 512 million litres.

This is the Audi Nanuk Quattro concept, unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show. It's a cross between Audi's R8 supercar and an SUV, and it's powered by a new twin-turbo V10 diesel engine. It’s been designed in conjunction with Italdesign Giugiaro, the famous Italian styling housed most recently responsible for the Lamborghini Gallardo-based Parcour crossover concept.
