Lamborghini Gallardo: Chinese owner takes umbrage
Wed, 16 Mar 2011Lamborghini Gallardo destroyed in China by disgruntled owner Maybe China doesn’t have any effective consumer rights laws to protect disgruntled consumers. Or maybe the owner of the Lamborghini Gallardo in China, who organised its destruction on China’s ‘National Consumer Day’ to make a point about Lamborghini’s failure to address his problems, had just reached the end of his tether. U.S. is seeking a record $16.4 million fine against Toyota
Mon, 05 Apr 2010The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is seeking a historic $16.4 million civil penalty against Toyota for failing to notify the agency in a timely fashion of a throttle problem that could cause unintended acceleration, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said on Monday. The amount is the maximum penalty and would be the most NHTSA has levied against an automaker. The agency said Toyota waited at least four months to alert it of the potential pedal problem.
Toyota to close Australian design studio
Mon, 10 Feb 2014Toyota designers at its Technical Center Asia Pacific Australia (TTCAP-AU) are to lose their jobs as part of Toyota's decision to scale back the facility's activities as well as halting all manufacturing within the country by 2017. The TTCAP-AU, which carries out all its Australian design and evaluation operations, employs 150 designers and modelers and it's possible that its activities with the Camry, Camry Hybrid and Aurion models could be scrapped, raising doubts over its future. Around 2,500 employees at Toyota's Altona manufacturing plant are expected to lose their jobs, although the effects are likely to be wider ranging.
