And the same is happening at Jaguar with the XF and XJ offering real competition to the German premium brands, the F-Type carving out a hugely appealing niche of its own and the new Jaguar XE on its way to take on the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. But the missing piece of the puzzle is the introduction of a new range of engines developed and built by JLR to replace the still able, but bought-in, engines JLR currently use.

But probably the big Geneva news on the Toyota hybrid front is the public debut of the Toyota Prius+, the European version of the Prius V we saw at Detroit and the first Prius to offer enough seats to party in. Suzuki has unveiled a warmed-up version of its Swift supermini at the 2011 Geneva motor show. The new Swift S-Concept is an indication of the forthcoming Swift Sport hot hatch. Although a concept, it won’t take a rocket scientist to work out the Swift S-Concept is very close to the production car.
