This is a 235 hp Wright R760-8 engine which is a part of Dan Murray’s estate. Dan was well known in the vintage aviation community as a meticulous craftsman and antique aircraft restorer who had begun to overhaul this engine before he was tragically killed last March. The crankshaft was checked for run out, and both it & the master/link rod assembly have been cleaned and magnaflux inspected. The carburetor, magnetos, and oil pump are overhauled. All the other parts have been solvent washed and are ready for inspection and overhaul. The engine is packaged in a wooden crate and is ready for shipment. Fri, 10 Jun 2011Federal safety regulators have begun an $8.75 million study of whether lithium ion batteries in electric vehicles pose a potential fire hazard, officials said Thursday. Kevin Vincent, chief counsel of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said researchers are looking at whether the high-voltage batteries can cause fires when they are being charged and when the vehicles are in an accident.
