This is a complete 350 hp Wright R760-E2 engine which was nearing the completion of an overhaul by Dan Murray before he was tragically killed last March. Dan was well known in the vintage aviation community as a meticulous craftsman and antique aircraft restorer. With respect to this engine, Dan had overhauled and assembled the power, blower, and accessory sections, both magnetos, and the carburetor. He had also purchased new exhaust valves, piston pins & plugs. The cylinders are clean, have been freshly ground to +.015, and include a new set of pistons & rings. Receipts are available for all the new parts Since Dan was killed before finishing the engine there was no sign off of the work which he had done. Remaining to be completed is the cylinder seat & guide work, assembly of the ignition harness, and installation of the cylinders on the power section. Sat, 31 Oct 2009The Mercedes C Class Executive SE - available in the UK from November Having already played this card with the E Class – the E-Class Executive SE – Mercedes has decided to treat buyers to a limited edition model of the C Class and has announced that the Mercedes C Class Executive SE will be available in the UK from November, powered by the manual C180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY engine and available as a saloon or estate. As with all limited editions there’s nothing to get too excited about unless you were already up for the extras the limited edition is throwing in to the pot. In the case of the Executive SE these include COMAND, the grill off the Sport model, 16” ‘Pristix’ alloys and a bit of extra chrome on the boot lid and exhaust.
2015 VW Polo GTI gets new 1.8 litre TSI with 189bhp
Thu, 18 Sep 2014The VW Polo GTI gets a facelift and new engine for 2015 The 2015 Volkswagen Polo GTI is being updated for 2015 – and heading for a debut at the Paris Motor Show – with VW bucking the trend for ever smaller engines by dropping the current 1.4 litre turbocharged and supercharged lump in favour of a new 1.8 litre TSI with 189bhp and 236lb/ft of torque. The extra power lets the new Polo GTI get to 62mph in 6.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 147mph and, unlike the current GTI, you’ll also be able to do that with a six-speed manual ‘box as well as the optional 7-speed DSG. Aside from the new engine, you’ll need to look quite hard to see the changes, but the 2015 Polo GTI does get updated headlights, a new grill (complete with red stripe), more aggressive bumpers with the interior keeping its tartan seats and getting the same updates as those on the rest of the Polo range.
