BMW reveals Concept M4 coupe at Pebble Beach

BMW's M division has previewed its upcoming M4 coupe with the unveiling of a near-production-ready concept of the new performance coupe at the annual Pebble Beach Concours in Monterey, Calif. The BMW Concept M4 provides a lightly veiled look at the eagerly anticipated M3 coupe replacement that is expected to make its public premiere in production guise at the Detroit auto show in January. North American sales will start before the second half of 2014.

Toyota tests chips that improve hybrid efficiency by 10 percent

Toyota announced on Tuesday that it has developed a new semiconductor, claiming it can boost fuel efficiency in hybrid cars by an impressive 10 percent. The semiconductors manage the flow of electricity through the power-control unit that connects the battery to an electric or hybrid car's motor and generator. The newly developed semiconductors are said to consume only a tenth of the energy of today's chips, while allowing the power-control unit to be 80 percent smaller.

The Saab 9-4X has gone in to limited production in Mexico With all the shenanigans going on with the sale of Saab it’s very easy to forget that there is the business of making cars still going on. We reported last month that Saab were to re-start production in January and it now looks as if the yet to be revealed Saab 9-4X SUV is also being made – albeit in small numbers.
