VW reveals plug-in diesel hybrid concept, claims 261 mpg
Tue, 25 Jan 2011Volkswagen has used a car show in the Middle East nation of Qatar to unveil a two-seat plug-in hybrid concept car that the automaker says will deliver 261 mpg. The VW XL1 uses a lithium-ion battery pack, an electric motor and a two-cylinder, 0.8-liter diesel engine for the powertrain. We're still digesting the press release, but here are some highlights: -- VW says the XL1 can travel about 22 miles on electricity from the battery pack.

Ahead of the 911 GT3's unveil at the 2013 Geneva show this week, CAR had exclusive access to the car, and to the man who headed the team that engineered it: Porsche's head of GT series production Andreas Preuninger. Audi claim the revised TT is more than a product improvement and that it looks much sportier thanks to changes to the front which make the TT seem wider and more stylish with it’s optional LEDs. They say that the TT’s new colours and shiny new alloys – in 17″ and 18″ options – stand out and enhance the TT’s timeless architecture.
