Grand National Roadster Show 2010: Possessed for victory--and just in time

The car that won almost didn't make it to the show. To officially enter the Grand National Roadster Show, the most prestigious hot-rod event on the planet, your car has to be in the building at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., by noon on opening day. Possessed, an elegantly elongated take on a '33 Ford roadster, was officially signed in by the judges at 11:58 a.m.

The Porsche 918 Spyder in Monterey Unless you’ve been locked in a cupboard for the last week, you can’t have failed to notice that this weekend the car world – or at least the upper echelons of the car world – has migrated to Monterey in California for a weekend of basking in the beauty that is the automobile, which culminated in the Pebble Beach Concourse d’elegance We’ve had a couple of premiers from Jaguar and a crash by Sir Stirling Moss; the US has acquainted itself with the Bugatti Veyron SuperSports and the Morgan Eva GT got its world premier. And Porsche took the 918 Spyder Hybrid to Monterey to let the world see it – and to pitch its wares to some of the wealthiest collectors on the planet. Which gives us the opportunity to bring you a VT of the Porsche 918 Spyder on the move.

Renault Alpine A110-50

As we reported earlier this week, the Renault Alpine A110-50 prototype will be shown at the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. Designed by Yann Jarsalle and Concept and Show Car Director Axel Breun the A110-50 effectively relaunches the historic Alpine brand despite being essentially a reworked version of the Renault-branded DeZir concept unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. As well as the addition of various Alpine design cues – the stylized yellow spot lamp pods, central hood flute and blue and orange colorway – the car is built on the platform of the RenaultSport Megane Trophy racecar and so therefore requires cooling provisions for its mid-mounted engine.
