August 1928 "The Alexander Aircrafter"

Alexander Eaglerock, Bullet and Flyabout

The Alexander Aircraft Company published "The Alexander Aircrafter" series monthly in the late 20’s and early 30’s. The Eaglerock aircraft were built in the Denver suburb of Englewood and after the factory burned, in Colorado Springs Colorado. The company was started by a couple of brothers who were in the film industry and wanted an airplane to deliver their films. They could not find an available aircraft that was suitable, so designed one. The Eaglerock series became very popular and for a time, were producing more aircraft than anyone in the world. Al Mooney of Mooney Aircraft fame was a designer for Alexander Aircraft. The magazine contains period photographs and articles about their aircraft and articles about aviation in general. It measures 7 7/8 inches by 5 ½ inches. The issues were known for their colorful and often whimsical covers.

Up for auction is a August 1928 issue. This is a clean tight edition. I would consider it in excellent condition. It contains 22 pages.

From the images released by Honda, the AC-X appears similar in both size and proportion to the hydrogen fuel cell-powered FCX Clarity, with its a-pillars and windscreen base pulled far forwards, a smooth transition over its nose, screen, roof and rear deck and an elongated, sharply cut-off tail. Aerodynamic efficiency is clearly paramount.

Cyclists warned to ride safely

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

BICYCLE RIDERS need to take more responsibility for their own safety in the wake of a spate of cyclists' deaths, one of London's top police officers has said. Chief Superintendent Glyn Jones's comments came after launching a new initiative that will see 2,500 officers being asked to reinforce traffic rules in the capital's most notorious black spots from tomorrow. The initiative was in response to the worrying statistic that six cyclists have been killed on London's roads in two weeks.
