It refused a request from NHTSA to recall 2.7 million 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2002-07 Libertys for an alleged fire risk caused by fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle.

The new engine greatly simplifies Chrysler's powertrain offerings and helps the company save money by improving economies of scale. Drawings show that Hyundai's approach to the Sonata design has been completely rethought. Based on the drawings, the 2011 Sonata will have a fluid look, accented with a sharp crease in the side sheetmetal that flows upward, stretching from the front door to the rear of the car, ending on the trunk lid. The thin C-pillar creates a coupelike appearance.
