Top Gear's Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust Electric Car Update: As Top Gear gave their electric car to Autocar to test (they should have given it to Cars UK!), we thought we’d update this post with the Autocar test video (at the end of this article). With a new series of Top Gear starting last week – Top Gear does Romania being the main piece – we suddenly remembered that you all love Top Gear as much as we do when we had tens of thousands of you arriving to have a look at the piece we did earlier this year when the boys were actually in Romania. Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport – under £30k

Vauxhall is replacing the Insignia VXR with the Insignia VXR SuperSport, with a 170mph top speed and costing just £29,995. But don’t run away with the ieda that the VXR SuperSport ios some sort of new, super-powerful version of the old VXR without the SuperSport badge, because it’s not. Vauxhall has simply taken the limiter off the old VXR – and in the process upped the top speed to 170mph – and actually dropped the price to £29,995.

Caterham reveals new SP/300R race car

British specialty-car maker Caterham unveiled its new SP/300R sports prototype race car and a plan for creating a one-make series in 2012 on Thursday at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, England. The SP/300R is powered by a supercharged 2.0-liter Ford Duratec four-cylinder engine. It produces 299 hp and 213 lb-ft of torque.
