Infiniti to overhaul model naming for 2014

Infiniti will ditch its current badging strategy in 2014, opting instead to carry a 'Q' or 'QX' prefix on all models. The new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake got its official reveal back in April (although we had to wait until July for the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake) , Mercedes has only now got round to revealing that the CLS Estate will cost from £49,360 for the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Shooting Brake. The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY has to make do with Becker MAP PILOT instead of the full fat COMAND multimedia system the 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and CLS 63 AMG get, but all three CLS Shooting Brake models - CLS 250 CDI, CLS 350 CDI and the flagship CLS C63 AMG Shooting Brake – get DAB, leather, Parktronic, metallic paint and Bi-Xenons.

London Motorexpo competition shows future EVs

London's 2012 Motorexpo show has showcased the work of the winners in its competition to design an electric vehicle of the future. The brief, to create a circa 2032 zero-emmission city car capable of transporting four adults and luggage, was won by Michael Vlcek, a first-year student at London's Royal College of Arts' (RCA) Vehicle Design department. Vehicles of the future Vlcek's proposal displayed a car with electric motors mounted in the wheel housings to maximise interior space, and a front-hinged opening to allow access via the rear of the car, where Vlcek positioned the rear lights on vertical vanes to improve aerodynamic stability.
