Mercedes confirms SLK55 AMG’s new 5.5 V8

It’s a 5.5-litre lump, and AMG promises that its new naturally aspirated engine delivers not just the performance of a V8, but also the ‘economical fuel consumption of a four-cylinder’. Essentially the Ecoflex is a 158bhp 2.0-litre CDTi Insignia, but an army of now-familiar C02-slashing improvements have been swung into action. These improvements include under-car panelling and a lower ride height to help the Insignia cut through air more cleanly (the drag factor falls from 0.27Cd to 0.26), plus lower rolling resistance Michelin tyres.
1932 Ford 'Deucenberg V8' wins Ridler award
Mon, 09 Mar 2009A head-turning burgundy 1932 Ford B400 took home top honors at Detroit's Autorama on Sunday, winning the coveted Ridler award over seven other finalists. Dubbed the "Deucenberg V8," the car is designed to be an elegant hot rod, drawing on cues from the luxurious Duesenbergs of that era. It has an aluminum lift-off roof with cloth top, suicide doors, a stretched hood and leather interior.
