1971 Cadillac Buick Oldsmobile NOS trunk release-close solenoid 9852287

Product Description

NOS genuine GM trunk lid release or close solenoid, part number 9852287.

I was a little confused getting the applications for this, as there is some conflicting information in my GM books. Different GM Divisions showed different dispositions of this part number, and the usage is still not crystal-clear based on the wording in the different parts books.

As shown in the picture from my 1975 Cadillac parts book, they were busy showing this 9852287 part number being used for their "mechanical pull down unit" (i.e. trunk CLOSER), and showed 9881899 for the trunk OPENER. They also showed another part number for 1972 - 1973 OPENER. Meanwhile, Oldsmobile was busy superseding part number 9852287 to part number 9881899 in June 1971, and only referred to it for a trunk OPENER. Buick showed only 9852287 (no supersedence) for an OPENER. In some of my 1971 GM Price books, they all show interchange with the other Divisions, but only amongst Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac, no Chevrolet.

So then we get to the Pontiac parts books. In the 1971 Price book, they show 9852287, and interchange with only Chevrolet!. But, in the parts books, 9852287 never shows up, only 9808588 for a 1971 OPENER. That is the same number Cadillac shows for 1972 - 1973 OPENER.

Long story short, I'll let you figure all this out, my head hurts...

Probably fits:

  • 1971 Buick LeSabre, Centurion and Electra
  • 1971 Cadillac Calais, DeVille and Fleetwood
  • 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and 98
  • 1971 Pontiac Catalina, Grandville and Bonneville

Brand new, still in original GM shipping box (not a parts box), along with original GM picking ticket. Never installed, but has a slight bit of surface rust from non-optimal storage over the years.
1971

Shipping - Payment

A few words to make things easier.

1. Combined shipping for multiple auctions is always available, but when the auction is over, you will have to wait until I revise things in my eBay "paperwork" to create just one invoice for all your purchased auctions.  And I have to do the revising BEFORE you pay.  If auctions are paid separately (i.e. before you receive my invoice combining items), eBay will no longer then let me combine them on one invoice.  AND, eBay then automatically charges you separate shipping charges for each item, which is not refunded.  Again, this is eBay's set-up.  Combining auctions benefits you by saving you shipping and handling fees.

2. Payment is expected within 3 days.  After 8 days, I will file with eBay to have my auction fees refunded.  If there is a problem with 3 days, please let me know, as I am not unreasonable, and I know that things happen.  Just be aware that having been on eBay full-time for several years has already afforded me an opportunity to hear a lot of "creative" stories.

Thanks for your bid.
