Bought this 2012 225hp Mercury Optimax at a Government auction. Sellor explained the government sells their outboards when they go out of warranty. I made a mistake when I bought the engine. It is a digital controlled Mercury SmartCraft engine.Engine was recently bench tested by lamb's yacht center in Jacksonville, Florida. They were only able to do a compression test and leak down. unable to test fault codes because incompatible wiring connection Optimax vs Verado. Compression test was done in cold condition. psi leak down #1 cyl 100 15 lbs #2 cyl 100 10 lbs #3 cyl 109 05 lbs #4 cyl 105 0 lbs #5 cyl 105 10 lbs #6 cyl 109 0 lbs Engine appears to be in very good condition and may have over 1,000 hours. Mercury tech support says the engine was serviced regularly. The only fault was replacement of a air compressor. Engine is in storage in Jacksonville, Florida |

Worth a read: Wired's 'Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design'
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Wired has just published a series of short articles entitled 13 Lessons for Design's New Golden Age. While there are some interesting examples cited in the piece, the concluding article, ‘Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design' by the former creative director of Wired magazine, Scott Dadich, feels like it has particular resonance for car design. Dadich's Wrong Theory uses disruptive examples from the world of art, plus his own experience of working at Wired, to explain how design goes through phases: establishing a direction, creating a set of rules that define that direction and finally someone who dares to break from that direction.
