Up for sale is a real NEAT piece of History! We purchased the inventory of a small auto parts store in PA that closed in the late 1950s. On one shelf, we came across this package. On September 18, 1946, the order was processed directly at the REO Motors warehouse in Lansing Michigan. The order was for 6 connecting rod insert bearings, (six halves, so enough for 3 rods), REO part numbers 92 and 6A-199, to be shipped to Girens Garage in Knobsville, PA to the attention of Mrs. Leavell. These were shipped in a nice original blue and white REO Motor Car Company box, which was then placed inside another brown box with a NEAT REO Motors sticker on it. Once they arrived, it appears that they were tucked away on the shelf, and sat there unused, until we discovered them. Original packing slip and parts tag (which references "35 REO") are included, as well as the boxes and bearings as shown in the photos. Surely RARE obsolete parts for your REO.   These bearings are correct for the following models:

1935-1936 REO Flying Cloud models 6A & 6D with 6-cylinder engine
1932-1938 REO Truck models 1B, 1D, 2B, 2D, 1B4, 1D4, 2B4, 2D4, 2H, 2J, 2K, 2L

Lexus GS-F coming. Says Lexus. Apparently

Sun, 05 Dec 2010

Lexus GS from SEMA. The Lexus GS-F won't be so OTT You’ll forgive us for the less than assertive headline, we hope. Because we’ve been hearing from lots of places – our sources and the sources of others – that Lexus are going to endow its GS with a serious amount of V8 grunt (actually, the last report we ran was that Lexus were giving the GS a V10) to take on the uber-exec expresses from the Germans (and the XFR) and create a Lexus GS-F.

New Mercedes A45 AMG has 105 years of 4WD on its side

Wed, 15 Aug 2012

With the new Mercedes A45 AMG on the horizon – complete with 4WD – Mercedes chart the history of all wheel drive on their vehicles. We tend to think of 4WD road cars as a modern innovation, and certainly very few 4WD road cars hit the road in a mainstream way much before the 1980s (the Jensen FF was hardly mainstream before someone points out that was in the 1960s). But the history of 4WD goes back, certainly in the case of Mercedes, a surprising 105 years when Daimler built the Dernburg-Wagen, a 4WD vehicle that not only got all-wheel drive but all wheel steering too.

Peel P50 back in business

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Did you know you can buy a brand new Peel P50? That’s the tiny three-wheeled microcar Jeremy Clarkson famously drove around the inside of BBC Television Centre for an episode of Top Gear in 2007, and holder of the Guinness world’s smallest production car title for over 50 years. Turns out it was put back into production in 2010, and is now assembled under licence by a company called Grasshopper in Nottingham.
