Mitsubishi bringing i MiEV Sport Air concept to Geneva
Mon, 26 Jan 2009Mitsubishi will show another iteration of its sporty micro-size electric car with the debut of the i MiEV Sport Air concept at the Geneva motor show in March. Building on the i MiEV Sport, which we first saw at the Tokyo motor show in 2007, Mitsubishi adds a clear removable roof and slight alterations to the front fascia. A lithium-ion battery powers three magnetic synchronous motors--one in each front wheel and one to drive both rear wheels--with an all-wheel control system managing stability and traction control, and ABS for optimal stability and performance.

Based on an all-new platform, the Carens offers the choice of five or seven seats, covering off other manufacturers' 'normal' and 'grand' models with one bodystyle. Design-wise it's most closely aligned to the latest C'eed, with similar, pulled-back lamp graphics and pouting grille.

With all the grief in the car industry last year Nissan cut production back to two shifts in Sunderland.
