For sale is one used cast iron externally balanced small block 400 crankshaft. Casting# 3951529 Date Code D 19 2 (April 19, 1972) For Chevy Small Block 400ci 1970-1980 **Works for 1969-1985 Chevy 350ci (For 383 Stroker) This cast iron crankshaft was removed from a SBC 400 and has the 3.75" long stroke and 2.65" main journals. It was taken to our local machine shop where it was inspected, it checked out good. The rod and main journals are both un-cut, they are standard size. The journals all have surface rust on them (pics), but there is no deep pitting and they will clean up well. The snount and rear flange are in good condtion. **This crank has the 400 sized main bearings (2.65"), if your planning on stroking your Chevy 350ci the main journals will need to be cut down to the 350 size (2.45"), This crank will need to be taken to a professional machine shop to be ground and possibly cut down for 383 stroker use.
This will be a good original crankshaft for your 383 Stroker build, please look at the pictures below. If you have any questions contact us. The former chief designer at Morgan, has formed his own design consultancy, Matthew Humphries Design, in a bid to branch out into the worlds of bespoke cars and product design. Humphries will continue his relationship with Morgan in a partnership that will see the newly formed company help to develop future models for the independent British sports car manufacturer. The 28-year-old Coventry University graduate believes he can begin moving into the growing market for integrating automotive design elements into product design – such as furniture – and particularly British-themed products.

Wired has just published a series of short articles entitled 13 Lessons for Design's New Golden Age. While there are some interesting examples cited in the piece, the concluding article, ‘Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design' by the former creative director of Wired magazine, Scott Dadich, feels like it has particular resonance for car design. Dadich's Wrong Theory uses disruptive examples from the world of art, plus his own experience of working at Wired, to explain how design goes through phases: establishing a direction, creating a set of rules that define that direction and finally someone who dares to break from that direction.

Honda Civic Ti - the bargain of the week. We seem to have run endless stories on limited edtion cars designed to get footfall in showrooms, all caliming to offer something extra for not much more. But the Honda Civic Ti seems to take the prize for the most extra kit for the least extra money.
