AS Ford’s iconic Mustang celebrates its 50th anniversary, a1964 Mustang 1/2 Coupe, produced as part of the earliest production run of the iconic car, is ready to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale on May 24th. Regarded as the purest of all Mustangs, this rare car, estimated between £14,000 to £18,000, was built at Ford's Dearborn Michigan plant on 26th June 1964. Crucially it still has its original 260CI V8 Engine and Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

The new Chinese-owned MG company has manufactured a few hundred TFs in Longbridge as it's taken its first tentative steps towards relaunching the famous brand in its home market. The Hiriko Driving Mobility Group has moved into the manufacturing trial of its two-seater electric microcar, which it hopes will offer a new car-sharing program that will transform the way we travel around our cities. The ‘first-mile' problem – moving between the commuter's home and mass transit hubs – and the ‘last-mile' problem – from mass transit to the workplace – has increased dramatically over the past few decades as more of us live in urban environments. 10 years ago researchers at the Michigan Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) decided to explore alternatives to shuttle buses and other ideas that failed to tackle the problem.
