After a difficult start to the '80s, Hyundai thought of a new strategy to penetrate the American market and to compete with the industry leaders – Japanese manufacturers such as Toyota being the primary target. It came back in 1990 and set up the Hyundai California Design Center to develop cars just for 'Uncle Sam'. The center began with projects such as the Tiburon coupé and the Santa Fe off-roader, both being named after American cities.

Honda will show a concept Civic Estate – the Civic Wagon Concept – the latest NSX Concept and the new  CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC at Geneva 2013. With the 2013 Geneva Motor Show just around the corner, there are going to be lots of car news stories about car makers’ plans for their Swiss outing. Today, we get the news that a Honda Civic Wagon concept will be debuting on Honda’s stand which, say Honda, hints at the design direction of the final production version.

The Hyundai ix-Metro Concept at Frankfurt The new ix35 – despite looking very similar to most offerings in the same sector –  is enormously competent – at least in its conception –  and well built. Most importantly for buyers it will undercut the current offerings, whilst offering a package the equivalent of the best. But is Hyundai getting a bit too wrapped-up in its Euro-design?
