Stop that annoying belt squeal with this new idler puller and longer belt kit for the 2.8 liter V-6 Fiero!

This simple to bolt on and install idler pulley provides about a 75% increase in surface contact with the alternator pulley thus eliminating belt squeal. It also greatly increases the contact surface on the drive (crank) pulley. Easy to install in the car. Fits all V-6 Fieros. With or without A/C. Just remove the two bolts, install the idler pulley assembly, reinstall and tighten the two original bolts. Install the new longer belt, tighten and you are done. No need to over tighten the belt now to stop that annoying squeal common on most all Fiero 2.8 liter V-6 engines. Carry your old belt for emergencies as the pulley will not be in the way if you need to reuse the original belt in an emergency.

This idea of using an idler pulley and a longer belt was first thought of by John Allen of Shelburne, MA. He used a different mounting method than my kit but he gets the credit for coming up with an innovative solution to this common problem on the V-6 Fiero.

Using this kit will eliminate the need to over tighten the alternator thus greatly reducing the wear on the alternator and water pump and increasing their service life. Also eliminated is the need to over tighten the bolt for the alternator adjustments which leads to the failure of the aluminum alternator bracket.

You may also want to consider the reinforcement plate for the alternator bracket. This bracket greatly reduces the pressure on the factory alternator bracket and in some cases can be used to hold a slightly broken alternator bracket together.

Mercedes SL65 AMG (2012) first official pictures

Tue, 20 Mar 2012

If you're wondering why Mercedes is persisting with a twelve-cylinder SL in this downsizing era, understand this: the new 2012-spec SL65 AMG exists purely because many buyers at this end of the market demand more of everything. So a Mercedes SL65 AMG with a hulking bi-turbo 6.0-litre V12 has been launched for customers in China, the Middle East and other emerging markets, where millionaires are numerous and fuel prices less of an impediment to sizeable sales. Over here, we'll just ogle the price tag well into six figures and stick with the big-selling SL350 or SL500.
