Ferrari testing LaFerrari at Nurburgring (video)

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

Ferrari testing LaFerrari at Nurburgring We’ve had plenty of information from the Nurburgring on the new McLaren P1, and the new Porsche 918 has broken the Nurburgring lap record, but until now, despite a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, we’ve had nothing from Ferrari on the LaFerrari. Yes, we know Ferrari have been running LaFerrari round their own track, but McLaren and Porsche have been taking on the Nurburgring for some time with their hyper supercar offerings, but now it seems Ferrari are playing catch-up. What is a bit ofdd is that despite LaFerrari being presented to the public in production guise at Geneva, Ferrari feel the need to cover LaFerrari ion swirly black and white camouflage.

Double Success For Ford At Scottish Car Of The Year

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

FORD is celebrating a double victory at the Scottish Car of the Year awards, where its Fiesta ST took Best Hot Hatch title and Ford’s MyKey technology was judged Innovation of the Year. Commenting the Fiesta ST’s win, Alisdair Suttie, Association of Scottish Motoring Writers president, said: “Buyers of affordable ‘pocket rockets’ are spoiled for choice these days, with power and fuel economy light years better than ever before. Our winner is not the most powerful of the shortlisted cars but its ease of driving and superb chassis won over the judges.” The judges were also impressed by Ford’s MyKey, an industry-first technology which allows parents to programme a key for younger drivers that limits their top speed, reduces maximum radio volume, disables the radio until seat belts are fastened and prevents deactivation of driver assistance and safety technologies.

Alan Mulally spells out the future

Sun, 09 Jan 2011

Ford CEO Alan Mulally is famously on-message, handing out business-card-size versions of his business plan to all and sundry, including his “One Ford” mantra. “One Ford” covers a lot of ground, but it's shorthand for Ford becoming a single entity where the right hand knows what the left hand is doing. It's close kin to the concept of building global product platforms that spread costs for product development and parts over the greatest possible volume.
