Detailed Product Description

Product Description

Designed for Non-SOLAS vessels this waterproof Class B AIS transponder actively notifies other vessels of your exact position

ma 500tr

The MA500TR is a complete nav-plus-com station, a compact, waterproof Class B AIS transponder that actively notifies other vessels of your exact position. The MA500TR also has a dual channel receiver, providing AIS information (both Class A and Class B AIS signals) on two channels simultaneously. Information is displayed on its large, backlit full dot-matrix screen, giving real-time vessel traffic information for navigation and collision avoidance. MA500TR’s compact size means that it can be installed in a convenient place near the chart table, in the wheelhouse, on the flybridge or a pedestal in the cockpit. Featuring large, easy-to-use, backlit buttons that make it easy to operate even in tough conditions, the MA500TR can be integrated with the post 2011 DSC-compliant versions of the IC-M505* or IC-M604*. When networked with either of these radios, one touch of the MA500TR’s DSC button allows you to transmit DSC individual calls to a selected vessel instantly without manual MMSI entry; very handy in an emergency or for simply contacting nearby friends. Key collision-risk management functions simplify AIS operation: MA500TR identifies a target list (those in a local area), dangerous list (those you could potentially collide with) and what the closest point of approach is. A collision alarm with external alarm connection gives extra warning of potential impact.

Lexus IS F ends production to make way for the new Lexus RC F

Sun, 03 Aug 2014

The Lexus IS F is no more The Lexus IS F was the car Lexus hoped would take the fight to cars like the BMW M3. But in the 7 years the IS F has been on sale it’s only managed to shift around 11,000 units, partly because it just didn’t have the dynamics or power of the M3, but also because few yet consider Lexus a ‘Performance’ brand. So the Lexus IS F has now ended production after a less than stellar sales showing, and Lexus are instead pinning their hopes for a credible M3 beater in the new RC F.

VW’s Sebastien Ogier wins 2013 World Rally Championship

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

By Ollie Kew Motor Industry 04 October 2013 11:00 The World Rally Championship has its first new champion in nearly a decade – and wouldn’t you know it, this one’s called Sebastien too. Taking over the mantle from unbeatable Frenchman Sebastien Loeb is his fellow countryman Sebastien Ogier, driving for VW rather than Loeb’s dominating Citroen World Rally Team. Loeb chose to compete in ‘selected events’ in 2013, opting to race in the Monte Carlo, Sweden and Argentina and France events.

Teen-created PSAs combat distracted driving

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Two widely held assumptions about 21st-century American teenagers is that they're too busy with their smartphones to have any interest in cars and that any who manage to find their way behind the wheel are too distracted to drive safely anyway. These generalizations are broad, unfair and perhaps even counterproductive -- yet they're reinforced every time distracted driving leads to a preventable tragedy. That's why we were glad to see young drivers take action by creating a series of anti-distracted-driving public safety announcements for the Teens Drive Smart Video Contest.
