There’s more disappointment afoot for fans of Audi concept cars. After previous admissions that Ingolstadt wouldn’t build the R8 V12 TDi or an electric successor to the A2, CAR can now reveal that a production version of the Quattro concept first seen at the 2012 Paris motor show has also been canned. However, a high performance Quattro-inspired coupe could still see the light of day, in the form of a Range Rover Evoque-style crossover, CAR understands.

Jeep has revealed a limited edition Grand Cherokee with the looks of the SRT8 but without the price or outright power – the new Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Limited. Reports of the death of the SUV have been greatly exaggerated in recent years, and the whole SUV sector – from compact to full size – still holds a lot of appeal for buyers. And when it comes to full size SUVs few do it any better than Jeep – certainly as far as off-road experience goes – even if previous versions of their full size Grand Cherokee have been a bit below European standards in terms of materials and on-road ability.

Concept Car of the Week: Citroën Camargue (Bertone) 1972

Coachbuilder Bertone presented the Camargue at the 1972 Geneva Motor Show as a 2+2 coupe alternative to the quirky Citroën GS hatchback. Named after the coastal region in the south of France, the Camargue was aimed to appeal to a young trend-conscious target audience. Penned by Marcello Gandini, the silhouette remained undoubtedly Citroën with a long overhang at the front, short at the rear and a long, sloping roofline.
