During the announcement of the McLaren Automotive's partnership with paints and coatings company, AkzoNobel, Car Design News took the opportunity to discuss the importance of color in design with design director Frank Stephenson. According to Stephenson color's ability to invoke emotions and communicate with viewers, he described just how big a part it has to play in the design process and how it inspires designers when developing products. The Sonic is Chevrolet's latest attempt to induce a small car in the American market and take on the Ford Fiesta in one fell swoop. Replacing the generally unaccepted Aveo, the Sonic draws from a youthful and aggressive design in a bid to appeal to the younger market. Available as a four-door sedan (seen here) as well as a five-door hatchback, the Sonic displays a 'progressive exterior design', according to the American brand's press materials.

Audi revealed its 700-hp Sport Quattro concept at the Frankfurt motor show in September; the car pays homage to the classic rallying Sport Quattro from the 1980s. On Monday, the automaker uploaded a video of the upcoming vehicle to celebrate 100,000 Facebook likes on its German social-networking page. The video shows the Quattro whipping and gripping through a forest/mountain stage.
