Hyundai i40 saloon – that’s the Euro version – finally arrives
Thu, 12 May 2011It's the Hyundai i40 Saloon for Europe As we reported last week – after Hyundai had, rather pointlessly, teased us with an image – the European version of the Hyundai i40 saloon is about to launch at the Barcelona Motor Show. So we have details, although much of what we have is what we already know from the Hyundai i40 Estate. What we do know is that the European i40 – whatever guise it comes in – seems a fine car and a real threat to the sector domination by the Ford Mondeo and VW Passat.
Citroen GT (GTbyCitroen Concept) – in the flesh
Sat, 23 May 2009The GTbyCitroen Concept (Citroen GT) is making a Summer tour of Motor Events in Europe Which all fits very well with Citroen’s desire to reposition itself as a Premium Brand. The new range of Citroen DS models is part of that way forward, and Citroen obviously believes – probably quite rightly – that the Citroen GT is potentially a great ‘Halo’ model for the company. So Citroen are going to spend the Summer schmoozing with the Citroen GT at some high profile events.
Skoda confirms two new models
Tue, 15 Mar 2011Skoda Vision D at Geneva - Skoda's new design direction It’s now got to the point with Skoda where the skip-on-wheels reputation of the ’70s and ’80s – and even the ‘Cheap’ VW tag of the ’90s and ’00s – has been completely eclipsed by the perception of Skoda as quite simply the maker of some crackingly good cars. Cars like the brilliant little Skoda Fabia vRS – which we’d take over the Polo GTI (much more character) – and the equally brilliant Skoda Yeti which, although it might not quite live up to Clarkson’s recent tongue-in-cheek assertion as the best car in the world is, nonetheless, exceptionally good. That change in perception is clear in the confident model range on offer from Skoda and the clever way in which it’s marketed.
