Audi planning their own version of the electric VW e-Up
Sat, 27 Apr 2013Perhaps the most promising EVs from Audi so far have been the A2 EV (pictured above) and the A1 range extender with a small Wankel engine in the boot to charge the battery. But even they were dropped from Audi’s production plans last year. But now it seems Audi are back in the production EV game with plans to produce an Audi e-tron using the underpinnings of the electric VW e-Up, but with Audi styling and an upmarket Audi interior and high-end Infotainment.
Subaru’s rear-drive sports car (2011) at 2011 Geneva motor show
Tue, 22 Feb 2011While Toyota unveiled a revised version of its FT-86 sports car at the 2011 Geneva motor show, Subaru chose to only preview the powertrain of its 'Toyobaru' rear-drive sports coupe. Subaru and Toyota are developing the car together, and each will produce a version of the rear-drive coupe in 2012, but so far it’s been Toyota that’s grabbed all the limelight. Yes, though Subaru was originally due to show a full concept version of its RWD sports car at Geneva, but has instead only revelead the powertrain and basic body shape – not the best move, as the Toyota looks good, and without body panels you only imagine this Scooby version to have bland, flat body panels. The engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre flat four, and the car rides on 17in wheels.
2013 SEAT Leon price revealed: Paris 2012
Sat, 29 Sep 2012SEAT has revealed prices for their version of the VW Golf – the new SEAT Leon – at the Paris Motor Show. Starts at £15,670. SEAT has been a bit more daring with their take on the new VW Golf and Audi A3 (the SEAT Leon is based on the same VW MQB platform as its Volkswagen Group siblings) with a sporty statement nose and interesting creases running down the side.
