   >General description and what engine is for sale:
Hello, I have for sale a Pontiac 455 engine, which came out of a 1973 Grand Prix. While this engine is unfinished, the total monetary value of what has been finished so far, is approximately half the total cost, appx.$4,000, of putting the whole thing together as planned. This engine can remain, if needed, at Hatch Engines in Aumsville, if you wish Brent to complete it for you and ship it to you. You will perhaps save $2,000 on a complete engine by buying this unfinished project from me.
   >History of this engine:
The engine block was purchased from a man in Corvallis Oregon, who pulled it from a 1973 Grand Prix. It was transported to a well known machinist in Aumsville, Oregon, whom specializes in race car engines at "Hatch Engines". The new parts were purchased and shipped here as well. Brent will not buy or install anything which has his name on it, that he thinks is not a quality part, as his shop has a long  and good reputation. This engine was started as a project for a 1977 Trans Am and this might be too much info here, but basically the funds to complete this engine were stolen from me and I do not have another bank account handy to complete it now.
    >What parts this engine comes with:
In this ad, is included a build sheet from Hatch Engines, which details the parts bought so far for this project.
The cost to buy the quality parts on this engine so far: 1,68600
The cost in labor so far is: 760.00
The cost for the engine block was: 700.00
  Total cost so far: $3620.00
>What is needed to finish this particular project:
This engine has been started as a project to get to 500hp in the most efficient way possible, keeping the total cost below 10,000. End estimated cost was appx. $8,000. To finish this you will need at least $4,000+ more in parts and labor, unless you decide to go a different direction on this project. In the end you will get $3,620 worth of build, for, perhaps half that cost. You might be able to build an $8,000 engine then, for less than $6000. Save that for the interior. I will help you at every step, to locate the correct parts you will need to finish this, as I sat down for a very long time going over every detail with Brent.
The good news is, you can complete this engine for much cheaper than I can. You can even go a different, cheaper direction still, and while doing that, not get to 500hp, you would still have a tire burning 300-400hp. I also have done a lot of research into parts and variations for builds, which i can share with you if you decide to buy this engine.
>What was originally intended for this engine:

This project was intended to be a high compression engine, 10:1, 11:1, however, if  you have plans for a turbo charger, you may still transition to a low compression engine at this point, while still saving money buying this, and you can put that money into other parts you couldn't otherwise afford. Again, we purchased parts, while not the most expensive, they are the most efficient and in the opinion of a machinist experienced in building race cars, more than able to stand up to the punishing 500hp this engine was being built for. We did not buy cheap parts.
I personally sat down with the machinist for a few hours and we calculated out the least cost way to get to 500 hp, without sacrificing quality parts and to be built as efficiently as possible, while still running on pump gas.

>Shipping this engine:
Hatch Engines, in Aumsville, Oregon, is where the engine currently is and from where it will be shipped from. I can also transport it to a main freight hub in Portland Oregon if needed. Freight for this should not be too high, somewhere around $250. I will help you set all of this up as I have shipped engines before, and its not as complex as it first seems.
If you wish, you can continue this engine with him and he will complete it at Hatch Engines, where is currently resides. His shop is renowned locally for building award winning race cars since the 1960's and he is the most honest mechanic I have ever met, friendly and will work hard for you to get you what you want. I will also be more than willing to help you if you decide to finish building this engine, whatever you do with it, as it also has sentimental value to me and I would like to see it built.
>Questions:
Any questions are welcome, as I want you to be happy with this purchase, and know that you made the right decision.

Team Lotus snaps up Caterham +video

Wed, 27 Apr 2011

Team Lotus buys Caterham Cars - and a Team Lotus Special Edition Seven to celebrate Team Lotus – that’s the ‘Lotus’ F1 run by Tony Fernandes, not the Hethel mob run by Dany Bahar – has bought Caterham Cars from Corven Ventures for an undisclosed sum. Which is all very apposite, what with Caterham being the spiritual home of Colin Chapman’s Lotus Seven and keeper of the Chapman ethos of lighter is better. To tie Caterham back in to the Lotus name could work wonders for sales.
